Starting A Club

What you need

Welcome to the exciting world of club creation! Whether you are passionate about a unique hobby, a cause, or just want to connect with like-minded students, starting a club is a great way to create your community at Boston Latin School. Here are a few tips to get you started on your journey!

1. Find a Club Advisor

Every great club needs a guiding hand, which is where club advisors come in! Find a staff member at BLS (teachers, department heads, etc.) who shares your enthusiasm for your club's purpose. They'll provide valuable insight, help you navigate through the year, and potentially allow you to use their room for club meetings. To contact a club advisor, send them an email or talk to them in person!

2. Meeting Time or Link

Set up regular in-person or virtual meeting spaces that work for your faculty advisor and your club members. Whether it's a weekly meeting, a monthly workshop, or an online gathering, setting consistent meeting times are crucial for the growth of your club. Make sure to communicate these plans with your club members and advisor!

3. Complete Registration

Fill out the club activation form linked at the top of this page to officially register your club for the year! You will have to re-register your club annually.

4. Create a Poster or Flyer

The extracurricular fair is where most clubs garner the most interest. Create a poster that showcases your club's purpose, upcoming events, and contact information in a visually appealing and informative way. Flyers are another way to gain interest. Hand them out during the fair or post them up around the hallways (make sure to get approval from Ms. Murray first!).
